At GoldCoast Language Schools we aim to give you English language for life. We understand that it is important that the English you learn is language for the real world. Our General English Language courses are designed around task-based, communicative activities which integrate all the skills for effective communication in today’s society. These courses are especially designed to optimise the precious time you have in class to the fullest so that they feel confident to practice what they have learnt outside the classroom.
GLS General English Language courses from Beginner to Advanced are designed to develop your reading, listening, speaking and writing skills. Teachers will help you progress through the course using core textbooks and other related texts and materials such as newspapers, magazines, radio, television and certain Internet sites. The teachers will take you step by step through new language and tasks and provide you with all the support you need in order to communicate successfully. As well as working individually with the teacher, you will often work in pairs and in groups to complete specific tasks.
In the morning sessions GLS focuses on grammar instruction and grammar revision, vocabulary building and task-based activities. This focus is vital at all levels to build fluency around authentic situations. The afternoon session (Session 3) of the General English course allows you to focus on specific skill areas or subjects of interest. At GLS you are able to hone in on one skill area, either your weakest skill or a skill which you feel needs to be improved and take the time needed to bring this skill up to the level required or study.
Teachers will observe you in each lesson daily, give regular homework and assignments and provide weekly and end of course tests to determine your progress.
