Session: 12 Weeks

The GoldCoast Language Schools’ English for Academic Purposes with IELTS is an intensive 12 weeks course designed to prepare you for tertiary study in English. The course has been developed to give you all of the skills required to be successful in tertiary education in Australia.

The EAP course is designed to assist you to comprehend, question, evaluate and produce a range of discourses which are relevant to academic contexts. All four macro skills of writing, speaking, listening and reading are studied. In addition to this, English for the Internet age and critical thinking are thematically linked. Two weeks (Week 6 and 12) have been designated for you to focus totally on IELTS at University entry level.

The afternoon session (Session 3) of the EAP course allows you to focus on specific skill areas. At GLS you are able to hone in on one skill area, either your weakest skill or a skill which you feel needs to be improved and take the time needed to bring this skill up to the level required.

Teachers will observe you in each lesson daily, give regular homework and set mid course and end of course assignments.

Course Duration: The EAP Course with IELTS is 12 weeks in duration. There are 23 hours of face-to-face instruction per week, plus two hours of exciting activities on a Friday afternoon. Our College Counsellor can help you to decide which course of further study to choose once you have completed EAP and can assist you with your enrolment into a Vocational or University course.
